This year, the North Alabama Conference will start a Conference Youth Leadership Team (CYLT) and a Conference Young Adult Leadership Team (CYALT), in accordance with The Book of Discipline ¶649 and 650 respectively. These teams will offer the opportunity for youth and young adults (and adults who support them) throughout the Annual Conference to gather and discuss important topics related to the United Methodist Church, locally and globally, as well as, promote youth and young adult involvement and create a space for youth and young adult leadership within the Conference. The minimum time of service on thes teams will be one calendar year beginning October 1.
Each team meeting will have a small cost involved to help cover the costs of food and housing. The cost per person is expected to be approximately $25-30 per quarter. Those who serve on the CYLT and CYALT can opt to fundraise locally to cover these costs or ask their local church to sponsor them.
All youth, young adults, and adults who are interested and have additional questions are invited to be a part of an online interest meeting via Zoom on August 27, 2019, at 7:30 p.m.
The application is available here for youth, young adults, and adults. Materials are due by September 15. All applicants will be notified by September 20, 2019, as to whether or not they will have the opportunity to serve.
