Every ministry leader needs access to training that will help develop them into better leaders, and also allow them to nourish their soul and have a communal experience.
One of the most valuable tools offered by the Conference to youth and children’s ministry leaders throughout the last fifty years is mentorship and training. Whether it was through camping or being a chaperone or traveling to the National Youth Workers Convention, the Conference Connectional Ministries Office has provided connection and training through access to quality leadership development experiences.
Over the years, Connectional Ministries has sponsored an evolution of trainings of all types, but there is a new opportunity emerging in April 2020 for church ministry leaders. A name and a specific date will be released in the next few weeks.
In the recent past, two different events for training in the programmatic areas of children’s and youth ministry have been offered: Contagious was the Children’s ministry training and Bread and Butter was the Youth Leader Training. These low-cost, peer-focused trainings brought hundreds of ministry leaders together for networking and sharing ideas and resources, and to also worship and work together toward building up the next generation of church leaders.
Instead of offering two separate events, which add expenses to the local church, Connectional Ministries is planning to offer one event in April 2020 that will be open to children and youth leaders, as well as offering segments in family ministries. This will allow for the utilization of resources that are consistent across all three programmatic areas, and will also provide opportunities for those who wear multiple hats in the local church. It will be a wonderful time for volunteers to get hands-on training with their peers. Best of all, this new merged event will aim to provide high-quality training for local church ministry leaders at a low-cost, so that it won’t break the budget!
The Connectional Ministries staff are currently looking for a design team to cover a diverse offering, from urban to suburban to rural ministry contexts, to appeal to the majority of the churches in the North Alabama Conference. If you are interested in serving on this design and planning team, please apply here.
